Assistant Chief Kellie Berg started her law enforcement career as a Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department Jailer in 2001, and in 2004, she joined the Fayetteville PD family. Assistant Chief Berg has served the FPD as a patrol officer, Special Projects Unit officer, Crimes Against Persons detective, as well as a detective in various other units. As a detective, Assistant Chief Berg helped with the formation of our department’s Domestic Violence Liaisons, the Special Victim’s Unit and the Prostitution Diversion Initiative. She has also served the FPD as a patrol supervisor, training center supervisor, Internal Affairs Unit sergeant, patrol lieutenant, Cross Creek District Commander, and most recently, the Major over our Investigations Operations. Assistant Chief Berg is a member of the American Polygraph Association, the North Carolina Polygraph Association, the National Organization of Women Law Enforcement Executives and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. She has also been certified in Yoga for First Responders and has her 200 hour Yoga Certification.
